Principals

The Haefer Group's principals are Wayne F. Haefer, President and Susanne Connors Bowman, Co-Owner.  We have a combined total of over forty years serving the association community.  We are active members of ASAE & The Center for Association Leadership. e have presented at multiple ASAE annual meetings, seminars and symposia.

Wayne F. Haefer
Wayne is President of The Haefer Group, Ltd. 
Wayne's area of expertise is strategic analysis and planning.  His particular areas of interest and skill relate to acquisition strategies, revenue development and financial modeling, process management, macro economic analysis and business problem solutions.

Prior to 1997,
Wayne was the Director of Membership Division of AARP.  He was responsible all membership development and member services during the Association's dramatic growth in membership and the development of its premier member service programs.  As a member of AARP's Senior Staff, he also had responsibility for AARP's membership database and call center with management responsibility for over 400 hundred staff.  His direct revenue responsibility was over $350 million.

Wayne has had extensive experience in the field of education at both federal and state level educational agencies.

Susanne Connors Bowman
Susanne Connors Bowman is a co-owner of The Haefer Group, Ltd.  Sue developed The Haefer Group Member Value Audit concept in line with her thinking about effective ways to judge the effectiveness of programs and services.  Her particular areas of interest include program & service audits, organizational audits (including member contact centers), training and research.

Sue is an active member of ASAE & The Center for Association Leadership.  She is currently vice-chair of the Consultants Section Council and coordinator of its e-newsletter Consultants Connection.  She was a member of the Membership Council for six years, including serving as chair during 2005-2006.  Her other ASAE involvement has included the Ethics Task Force, contributor to Associations Now, and faculty member at CenterU.  She is also an author of the financial chapters in the best-selling Membership Essentials.

Prior to co-founding The Haefer Group, Sue was Director of Insurances Services at AARP.  She has also had staff experience at the American Pharmaceutical Association.
